Poland mission trip
We’re partnering with Journey Church to help send members of the UAM Softball team to Poland June 29- July 7. We’re excited about this upcoming mission trip! If you are able to help support the girls and team members, then you can donate to the trip at this link.
First worship service in new facility!
Wednesday, March 8, the sidewalks dried out enough to allow public access to the new facility! We held our first worship service in a building that had been prayed and planned for 12 years. It was an exciting and powerful evening of worship, smiles, and Bible study.
BCM 2009
Well the new year is here and things are really hoping in our ministry. We are still without a building but the ministry is still going strong. Let me give some info so everybody can keep up with what is happening.
We are meeting at Journey Church for Refuge. Our normal time is 8:00 p.m. but we have changed it til we get into our building. We are starting at 6:00 p.m. The Journey folks are feeding us supper and then at 7:00 p.m. we have worship. If you need directions on how to get to Journey follow the link to the right.
We are planning to be in our new building by the first week of February. Then we can get back to normal. We will be starting our family groups back up in the next few weeks, so stay tuned.
Hope you are having a great semester.
I resolve to….
It is that time again. The time where everything starts a fresh. The time where we can literally begin a new. That’s right New Years. I love this time because it generally brings excitement and encouagement. The old is gone and we look forward to what lies ahead. We had a great 2008 and God really blessed our ministry. I am excited to see what lies ahead in 2009.
I also love resolutions, they really give us a chance to think about things that are important to us. Most people resolve to either better themselves or better relationships with folks in their lives. I personally think that both of those things are wonderful and I hope we all set goals to improve both of those areas. But I hope we also reslove to grow closer to God this year.
For me it is an annual thing. I set goals for myself and family to grow in our spiritual lives. Whether it is bible reading, prayer times, or personal devotions. We must remember to keep active our relationship to God. It is just like any other relationship, if we don’t keep it fresh and exciting it will become boring and unfruitful. Unfortunately, that doesn’t bother alot of people. But I hope it bothers us. i believe that if your spiritual relationship isn’t right it will effect the other relationships you have in your life.
So if you want to have an impact in your life and in the lives of the people around you, resolve to spend more time in your relationship with Christ. It will affect everything else in your life. I wish you all a happy New Year.
Give Me Five More Yards!
I can’t believe that the semester is almost over. It’s amazing how fast it has gone by. It seems like yesterday we were feeding the nailbenders, and having the organizational fair. God has really blessed this semester. We have a bunch of new faces and some great freshmen. We had the “Most Awesome Fall Retreat Ever.” and some intense games of Sardines. Most importantly we have had students come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior. We’ve played a bunch of intramural games and ate a lot of lunches together. We have seen God’s people doing God’s work. Our building is almost complete and that alone is a testament to God’s goodness. We have an amazing group of student leaders and I am excited to see younger students ready to jump in and replace some of our wonderful seniors. I can’t think of any ministry I would rather be doing than being right here at the BCM. I love seeing college students get excited about serving God. Does life get better than this, I surmise it does not!
Here is where the challenge starts for our students. The challenge is this, “Don’t let up.” We can easily sit back and say wow what a great semester, but we are only half way through. Remember this is a marathon not a sprint. One of my favorite movies of all time is Facing the Giants. One of my favorite lines from that movie is, “Five more yards, give me five more yards.” We need to do ministry little by little. We can’t just give up when we get tired. Complacency kills a ministry. Lets keep going and asking each other to give five more yards.
