Baptist Collegiate Ministry

About

What is the purpose of BCM? This is a question we get asked a lot. I will try and explain and give you some ideas.

BCM stands for Baptist Collegiate Ministry. We have been on the campus of UAM for a long time (1932). You may be more familiar with our old name BSU.  Our goal here is to give UAM students an opportunity to grow in their walk with Christ and to lead others to a personal relationship with Christ. We do this in a number of ways:

First, outreach. We are very involved with our campus. We support UAM in every way we can. BCM student are involved with intramurals, choir, band, athletics, and other student organizations.

Second, discipleship. We always have small groups going on across campus. We have groups in dorms, apartments, and homes. You will always find a group that fits your needs. Our upperclassmen love to teach and encourage our freshmen and sophomores.

Third, churchmanship. What does this mean? We always tell our students that we are not a church. We are a branch of the local churches here in Monticello.  We work hard to make sure our students find a local church to get involved in while they are at UAM.

Lastly, missions. We provide some awesome mission opportunities. We have international mission trips and national trips. We have been to Hungary, China, Brazil, and Mexico. We have also been to New York, Florida, and Pennsylvania. So you can see we believe in getting our students involved in sharing their faith.

That is a summary of who we are, come on over and check it out for yourself.
